Deep in the thickness of Maui, there are massive bamboo forests. So dense, and quiet are these forests, that you can hear your heart beat. It is dark, and wet, usually, within the bamboo forest of Kipahulu. This forest is protected within Haleakala National Park. Patterns are everywhere. Colors are mostly green, but there are those shoots that capture one’s eye. The bamboos forests are magical places.

Can you see the tree goddess with arms outstretched toward the light? Her legs are long, her skin is weathered and she is cloaked in silver and gold. Big old gum who resides on the shore of Lake Macquarie, NSW Cenral Coast. Nikon D700 with 24-70 @32mm / ISO 250 / f/10 / 1/160 and then played with levels to the max!
